Arbor Day Oak Seedlings - How to Plant

HOW TO PLANT YOUR OAK TUBELING

If you received one of the 300 Northern Red Oaks (Quercus rubra) distributed on April 30 at Communiversity, here's how to plant and care for it:

Chose a sunny site in well drained soil not too near your house, as the tree will grow 15 feet tall in 10 years and even larger (obviously) in the next 90 years!

Planting hole should be 3 times the diameter of the white container and 4 inches deeper than the container.

Gently remove plant from white container, careful not to damage secondary root growth.

Plant your tree as deep as where soil met the stem when you received it.

Fill around the tree with topsoil, and water your planting well.  Don't forget to water through the dry summer. Protect it from lawn mowers. And thank you for helping grow our community forest.
