UNDER THE SILK TREE

Mayor Mildred Trotman  (with shovel) joins the Princeton Borough Shade Tree Commission and Trinity Church member Jean Mahoney in celebration of Arbor Day 2011 beneath an Ivory Silk tree (Syringa a. “Ivory Silk”), recently planted along the Mercer Street side of the church.  Plantings of Syringas and "October Glory" red maples were final steps in the extended 2010-2011 Mercer Street Restoration project to completely repave, recurb, and replant the right of way with larger-than-usual tree specimens chosen with plant diversity and utility wire heights in mind.
